Busy week at Council of Europe

June 24, 2011

Dear everyone,

Hello again and thank you for visiting our blog. This week our team has been busy attending and reporting on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The PACE reviewed issues ranging from supporting democratic developments in the Maghreb to the role of national parliaments in promoting human rights in Europe. The PACE also honored an anti-torture NGO from Russia with an award for its work. We had the opportunity to listen to speeches from the presidents of Ukraine and Armenia, as well as those from the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Bulgaria. Leaders of the Moroccan Parliament also addressed the PACE.

As I come near the end of my three-year tour here in eastern France, I would like to take a moment to thank my colleagues here at the Consulate General who, on a daily basis, help promote U.S. policies, assist U.S., French, and third country citizens, and maintain our two buildings. They are consummate professionals with whom it has been my pleasure and privilege to work. Thank you, team Consulate General Strasbourg!

Thanks for visiting. We look forward to hearing from you – drop us a line, comments, questions, and constructive criticism are welcome!
